Eco-Lite Energy Smart Lighting
- What is Eco Lite?
Eco-lite provides an environmentally friendly and cost effective lighting solution. Mercator Lighting is committed to producing low energy, eco-friendly lighting products. Through research and innovation we strive to ensure that our Eco-lite products are stylish, practical and most importantly safer for our environment.
- Benefits to the environment.
Greenhouse gas emissions are contributing to global warming resulting in severe climate change effects around the globe. Eco-lite light fixtures and globes are designed to reduce energy consumption by up to 75%*, as Eco-lite products produces less greenhouse gas than conventional incandescent lighting. An average incandescent globe produces significantly more greenhouse gas emmisions compared to that of a Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL), therefore emmiting more harmful effects to our environment.
- Benefits to your wallet.
CFL's on average use approximately 20% of the electricity used by a standard incandescent light bulb, resulting in an overall decrease in your energy consumption and energy costs*. For example, over its life, a CFL will reduce energy runnings costs by up to 75%, and last up to 8 times longer than a standard incandescent bulb.
- Save time and maintenance.
The average life span of a CFL is 8 times that of an incandescent bulb, some lasting up to 10,000 hours (Av. 10 years)*. This reduces the amount of your time and money being spent purchasing and installing replacment bulbs. Eco-lite globes and light fittings are engineered to last longer than conventional products and come with an Australian wide warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is greenhouse gas?
The earth is covered by a blanket of gases (commonly known as greenhouse gases), which allow light energy from the sun to pass through. This blanket of gas absorbs heat attempting to enter the atmosphere re-directing it. Therefore the more harmful greenhouse gases we produce the less heat the earth's atmosphere will release causing temperature's to rise.
- Will the colour of CFL's be okay?
The colour quality of today's CFL's are equal to, if not better than regular incandescent globes. You have various colour options (also known as kelvin temperatures), such as warm white, cool white and daylight. See the colour temperature table below to help you determine the right globe colour for your space.
- Which energy saving globe should I buy?
Energy saving globes are sold in wattages just like regular globes, although they require less power to produce the same light output. When replacing your regular incandescent globes, check and see what wattage the regular globe is, then use the 'globe conversion table' below to work our which energy saving lamp will produce the same light output.
